ECO FLORIPA SPORTS EVENTS
A brief history of our company and events
The company was founded by physical education teachers with the purpose of organizing running events near nature. Always remembering to take great care in preserving the natural areas where the cometions take place. We are innovators constantly trying new ideas without fear of the unknown. However never forgetting the right planning to make the events a sucess. Our events encourage the participants; to break barriers physical and emotional, have healthy competition and to have respect and comradery with the other competitors.
The ECOFLORIPA team has years of experience running events. We managed for many years the Florianópolis Street Runners Association – CORPOLIS.
EcoFloripa advises other companies in the implementation of half-marathons, marathons and relays. We are partners with SulBrasil, the first organizer of adventure races in the state of Santa Catrina.2001
Currently ECOFLORIPA holds four major events: REVEZAMENTO VOLTA A ILHA, DESAFIO PRAIAS E TRILHAS, REVEZAMENTO DE SÃO FRANCISCO DO SUL E DESAFRIO URUBICI.
The Revezamento Volta à Ilha, was first created in 1996, being the fist long distance relay run in Brazil. Itstarted with a limited number of participants; however today it is the biggest running event in Brazil.
In 2002 we created Desafio Praias e Trilhas, also a pioneer in trail running. The race constists of two marathons, one on Saturday and the other on Sunday. It is considered for many the hardest two day running event in the world.
In 2004 we came up with the DesaFrio Urubici, the only major event in Brazil which focuses on running down and uphill in a very cold atmosphere. The city of Urubici holds the lowest temperature ever recorded in brazil, 17 degrees Celsius below zero.
The city of São Francisco do Sul is the third oldest city in Brazil. We created our fourth event, a relay run similar to Volta à Ilha. It consists of 90 km around the historical areas, ports, and beaches of the city.
